Welcome, traveler. Whether you’ve already soared through the pages of The Legend of the White Dragon or you’re simply curious about the world that shaped Princess Rhagan, I invite you on a guided tour beyond the story—a glimpse into the heart of each kingdom, where lore, landscape, and a few secrets from the author await.
PyreHeart: Where All Journeys Begin
Every legend needs a beginning. For Princess Rhagan—and for me as her author—that beginning is PyreHeart, the verdant heart of the continent.
Imagine a land where nature flourishes in unrestrained harmony: rolling meadows painted emerald and dappled with wildflowers, thick forests alive with the chatter of creatures, and sparkling rivers weaving through fields like blue ribbons. The air is always scented with pine and blooming things.
At the center sits the DragonClaw castle, surrounded by farmlands and presided over by King Ryker and Queen Rhea—Rhagan’s parents, and the pillars of this world’s fragile peace.
Author’s Note:
PyreHeart is the place I wish I could visit in my own dreams—a world shaped by hope, community, and the belief that every sunrise brings new possibilities. I poured all my longing for “home” into its hills and rivers.
Extra Lore: In PyreHeart, there’s a quiet custom of planting a new tree for every dragon shifter born in the realm. Families visit the growing sapling each year on the child’s birthday, believing its strength will mirror the child’s own journey. Over time, the royal groves have become a living forest of hope and memory, with each tree carrying a name and story.
Emberwing: The Kingdom of Fire and Stone
Traveling to Emberwing feels like crossing into another realm entirely. Gone is the greenery; in its place lies a barren, raw landscape, the ground stained deep red and cracked from an unforgiving sun.
Colossal rock formations rise like dragon’s teeth from the earth, casting sharp shadows over a land that remembers every flame. Here, King Kaelan and Queen Cinder Volcanis rule—a house as fierce as the land itself, guardians of old secrets and new dangers.
Author’s Note:
I wanted Emberwing to feel like a test—both for Rhagan and for readers. It’s a place where nothing comes easy, where survival itself is an act of defiance. My inspiration was a blend of volcanoes, desert canyons, and the idea that even scorched earth can hold stories worth telling.
Extra Lore: In Emberwing, it’s tradition for each family to display a glass vial of “ember dust” on their hearth. This glittering ash, collected from the kingdom’s ancient volcanic fields, is believed to protect homes from misfortune and honor the land’s fiery origins. When the summer sun is at its hottest, children compete to find the brightest flecks—said to bring good luck for the coming year.
Frostfire: The Frozen Wonder
The further north you travel, the more the world turns to white. Frostfire emerges from the snow like a vision—a realm smothered in a thick blanket of winter. Its mountains are sculpted by wind and ice, adorned with icicles that catch the pale light and turn it to diamonds.
Unlike the intimidating peaks of Mount Hope, Frostfire’s elegance is subtle, its beauty woven through endurance and resilience.
The royal house—King Torian and Queen Freyja Shiverwing—arrives in style, their banners marked with a white bear, their carriage pulled by the same majestic creatures.
Author’s Note:
Frostfire is all about the power found in quiet strength. It’s inspired by Nordic landscapes and the kind of cold that makes you respect both nature and your own limits. (And yes, I absolutely wish I could ride in a bear-drawn carriage.)
Extra Lore: Locals say the aurora lights in winter aren’t just lights—they’re the breath of ancient dragons, still watching over the kingdom on the coldest nights.
BrightScale: Autumn’s Fierce Embrace
If Frostfire is a study in white and blue, BrightScale is an explosion of gold, crimson, and fire. The meadows are alive with wildflowers; the trees burn with the colors of endless autumn. Yet, for all its beauty, there’s a wariness here—a sense that outsiders are not easily trusted.
The castle rises black and formidable, built for defense rather than welcome. King Caldric and Queen Thalindra Scaleheart rule with tradition and pride, their home a stronghold in every sense of the word.
Author’s Note:
BrightScale was born from my love of autumn—the sense of transition, the way beauty and melancholy mingle. I also wanted to capture what it feels like to be an outsider in a beautiful place, to earn trust one cautious step at a time.
Extra Lore: The people of BrightScale are famed for their storytelling tournaments, held each autumn beneath the fiery canopy of their forests. Competitors weave tales of legendary dragons, lost treasures, and the clever tricks of local spirits. The winning story is etched onto a golden leaf and placed in the Hall of Echoes, where the voices of past victors are said to whisper on the wind.
Mysthaven: Where Magic Grows Wild
Some places feel touched by another world. Mysthaven is that place: endless meadows of wildflowers, ancient trees, shimmering lakes, and a castle that breathes with the rhythm of the forest itself.
This kingdom is alive with magic. The castle’s stone walls are woven with moss, ivy, and blooming flowers, its halls teeming with butterflies and songbirds. King Terrathorn and Queen Vespera rule not just with power, but with a deep connection to the ancient life of the land.
Author’s Note:
Mysthaven is my “if fairies existed, they’d live here” kingdom—a wild, beautiful place where nature and civilization are one and the same. I wrote this section on days when I needed to believe in something gentle and wondrous.
Extra Lore: There are rumors of a hidden moonlit grove in Mysthaven where, once every decade, a flower blooms that can heal even the deepest wounds. No one’s found it yet… or so they say.
Scarletgrove: Secrets Beneath the Red Canopy
Step into Scarletgrove and you’re entering a kingdom shaped by shadows, loyalty, and silent strength. Crimson forests and secret gardens surround a fortress where trust must be earned and betrayal is never forgotten. King Jareth and Queen Calista lead a people who understand that true allegiance is not given lightly—but once given, is unbreakable.
Author’s Note:
Scarletgrove remains shrouded in mystery for most of Rhagan’s journey. In the book, her travels skip this kingdom, as she’s drawn instead to Mysthaven for the great tournament—a detour dictated by fate, politics, and timing. But Scarletgrove’s presence lingers in the background, its red forests and shadowed halls promising secrets yet to be uncovered. Perhaps, in stories yet to come, Rhagan will find herself drawn into its labyrinth of loyalty and intrigue. Until then, Scarletgrove waits—watchful, silent, and full of stories that remain untold…for now.
Extra Lore: Scarletgrove’s gardens are said to be filled with whispering roses—flowers that, legend claims, will only reveal their secrets to those pure of heart. Maybe one day, Rhagan will return to uncover what the kingdom is hiding.
CrystalGlade: Light and Legend
Finally, we arrive at CrystalGlade—a kingdom that seems spun from light and dreams. Rivers wind like threads of silver and blue, fields shimmer with pastel flowers, and at its heart stands a castle of glass and crystal, refracting rainbows across the land.
Here, artistry meets ancient magic: stone transformed into glass by dragon fire, a tradition requiring both mastery and courage. King Isidor and Queen Donnalene hold court in a palace that is as strong as it is breathtaking.
Author’s Note:
CrystalGlade is pure wish fulfillment—the fantasy of a castle made from light itself, built by dragonkind. I wanted to end our journey on a note of wonder, to remind myself (and you) that there is always magic in the world, waiting to be discovered.
Extra Lore: Locals have a legend that if you visit the castle at sunrise on the spring equinox, you’ll see a rainbow inside that points the way to your heart’s truest desire.
Closing:
Seven kingdoms, each as different as the dragons that call them home. Together, they form the tapestry of The Legend of the White Dragon—and the world that shaped Rhagan’s destiny.
